My Manifesto
The Bush Administration needs to understand that when the Declaration of Independence was originally written so many years ago, that it was NOT written only for Americans...that when our country was founded on certain principles, those principles applied NOT only to Americans...that when our ancestors left religious tyranny to found a new land of freedom, that such freedom was NOT only for Americans -- those ideals that this country was founded on were intended for all of humanity. The rights that we have today were given, according to Jefferson, not by the state, but by our almighty creator to all "men." Regardless of our belief in a higher power, humanity's need for these rights is as natural as our need for food, shelter, family and love.
These rights throughout American history have been violated both at the time they were written and across the timeline of this country as an embarassment to our country, one perceived for centuries as an utopian beacon, always in spite of its many flaws. Always, in spite of the dark course of our country's misgivings, America's system of government has shined, like the war-torn banner that flew in the face of the horrors of war at Fort McHenry in 1814.
Throughout the past little over two centuries that this country has existed, America has seen substantial progress in the recognition of human rights, and with each change we move closer to the true meaning of those original documents that profess those cherished rights, our human rights, those essential elements of our nature.
It seems blindingly apparent given such progress that these rights, including "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" today, as then, should apply to ALL people ALL across the world, and not only to those who live within the "whitebread-corporate-heterosexual-Christian circles" that still embarassingly exist within the United States of America, and threaten what so many - billions - have worked so hard to create.
I have no more patience for being cordial.
Thank you for reading.
MY GUY:
He's gotta be tall...larger than life, but nimble, flexible, able to adapt to any situation, rain or shine, but also able to knock down things that get in his way - someone so indestructible that even the ugly is beautiful in his world...he has to love color, and beauty, and laughter and fun, but he's got to be intelligent...he has to know what's going on around him...he loves to read...he loves movies and music and dancing and freedom......he loves the security of being locked up safely in my arms...he loves warmth...he cools me down when I'm on fire...he's a guardian who depends on me...he can see the happiness in my eyes when he smiles at me. He isn't afraid to smile. He isn't afraid.
My Favorite Quotes:
"But I simply must get through that door!"
"I'm sorry. I'm afraid it's impassible."
"You mean impossible."
"No, impassible. Nothing's impossible"
-Alice In Wonderland
It's these little things, they can pull you under.
Live your life filled with joy and wonder.
I always knew this altogether thunder
was lost in our little lives.
